Mocel, a new mezcal company that is inspired by the sights, sounds and flavors of the mountainous state of Michoacan in western Mexico, is releasing an initial batch of artisanal mezcal that celebrates centuries of mezcal tradition.
Mocel's initial offering comprises two mezcals, the Cupreata 2020 Expression, which is made from the agave cupreata plant that is native to Michoacan, and the Ensamble 2020 Expression, which is crafted from a blend of cupreata, inaeguidens and espadincillo that boast maturity times of up to 15 years.
Both of these delectable artisanal mezcals are made from two ingredients, namely pure agave and water. The mezcals are all distilled in Michoacan's distinctive wooden stills using a traditional process that results in magnificently delicious and unique batches with novel flavor profiles. Even the bottles pay tribute to the region by showcasing intricate artwork that is inspired by Michoacan's textile culture.
"Just like our mezcal, each ceramic bottle is crafted by Mexican artisans to be beautifully distinct," said Mocel's co-founder Rosalinda Mendoza.
