San Diego-based Funhouse Tattoo and augmented reality app Skin Motion joined forces to make it possible for people to get next-gen AR tattoos that are paired with sounds. Skin Motion is an augmented reality app that generates real-time audio playback from Soundwave tattoos, and just a handful of tattoo shops are certified in creating Soundwave tattoos.
After an audio recording has been uploaded to Skin Motion's website, it is analyzed and then turned into a waveform stencil. Like a QR code that can be scanned, the waveform tattoos are used to unlock content with a mobile device. And in the process, the Soundwave tattoo comes to life with augmented reality, helping people visually see the sound take shape before their eyes.
