Google will be releasing an anonymous mode for maps. Much like its Chrome browser’s incognito mode, users will be able to toggle this mode on and off when using Google Maps. When using the incognito function on Google Maps, information will not be stored to one's device. This feature can be used for potential trips that users would like to keep private.
Like on Chrome, information may not be stored on the device but that doesn’t mean it isn’t stored. Service providers will be able to tell where the phone is based on the phones interaction with cellphone towers. Other apps that track locations will also have information as to where the phone goes. Users will soon have access to Google’s anonymous mode for Google Maps.
