Video On Demand from Amazon

The global shift to web delivery took another step this week as Amazon launched the Amazon Video on Demand service.  The new site lets users buy TV shows and movies, and then lets the user watch right on the web.

Previously to use Amazon’s Unbox service, an application had to be installed on the user’s PC.  The web delivery opens up the service to all platforms and will also appeal to those who prefer the security of not installing new applications.

Customers who used Unbox will still be able to download movies, to play them on TiVo devices, and even buy right from enabled Sony BRAVIA televisions. 

The fact remains that Amazon is appealing to a much wider audience - folks who prefer the comfort of their web browser.  Count me in.
