Taking old images and found artwork, artist Facundo Arganaraz reworks and reinvigorates the pieces to create a series of altered images that resonate with a more modern aesthetic.
The artist uses a collage and screen print technique to create new art out of recycled vintage pictures, including photographs, x-rays, photocopies and other nostalgic pieces that would otherwise be discarded. He then adheres the collages on top of a cloudy, paint washed canvas and overlays text, color and other visuals. The effect has a vintage appeal with a modern twist, recreating various retro landscapes for the present viewer.
Facundo Arganaraz does not dismiss the past, rather he gives life to outdated trash through his altered images.
