LED-Wrapped Stadiums

The Allianz Arena Stadium Now Features a 300,000 LED Facade

The Allianz Arena is already one of the most grand, impressive and high-tech stadiums in the world but it has officially been taken to the next level via the installation of a 300,000 LED light facade. Home of German powerhouse team Bayern Munich, the Allianz Arena's facade is wrapped around the entire outside of the stadium.

Covering an area of 26,000 square meters, the LED sheathing will be used to create colorful and dynamic light displays. Created by electronics giant Philips, the system can be controlled digitally and is capable of reproducing an unbelievable 16 million colorss.

What's even more impressive about the new Allianz Arena facade is that it is eco-friendly, using 60 per cent less electricity than the stadium's previous fluorescent lamp-based lighting setup.
