Located in the Dutch city of Alkmaar, Roast is an eccentric, warm coffee bar characterized by its classically romantic interior and eclectic wallpaper. Designed by THIS IS WAT, the stylish coffee bar was created on an impressively small budget and its decidedly non-hip character.
Designed with a view to subverting the conventionally hip coffee shop, Roast is oozing with authenticity thanks to its earnest approach to decorating. Main features that stand out in the understated space include a classic granite bar and delicate light fixtures made from upcycled vases. Given the conservative nature of Alkmaar, however, the caffeine hub may still seem a bit unorthodox.
The Alkmaar coffee bar was designed by THIS IS WAT with only a €15,000 budget.
