Aichi Hirano has given Japan's tsunami victims a chance to tell their own story.
The photographer distributed 50 disposable cameras and asked the victims to photograph the world around them, allowing them to show a perspective the news has yet to feature. Aichi Hirano did this once after the disaster, and then again two months later.
The cameras were given to disaster relief shelters with a note saying "Please take photos of things you see with your eyes, things you want to record, remember, people near you, your loved ones, things you want to convey… please do so freely. And please enjoy the process if you can, even if it’s just a little bit."
His concept has managed to depict a story that the world has yet to see. The devastation of the tsunami has effected many, and this project has allowed the victims to share their stories through pictures.
