The future of Google might be search bar-less with the introduction of Google Lens: an AI camera lens which uses your smartphone lens to do more than recognize your friends' faces.
Described as "a set of vision-based computing abilities that can understand what you’re looking at and help you take action based upon that information," Google Lens is an interface that's coming to Google Photos and Google Assistant.
In the demonstration, 3 images were shown. When pointed at a restaurant, the lens recognized the sign, and pulled up menus and reviews. When pointed at a flower, the lens recognized the type of flower, and pulled up the respective information by preforming what appeared to be a reverse image Google search, in real time.
With AI technology developing to better understand pictures and videos, Google can imagine breaking free from the search bar it revolutionized, adapting to a technologically driven society.
