When people think of science labs, they usually don’t conjure the image of a colorful place like these Adrian Forrow illustrations. Featuring all the accoutrements you’d expect to see in a laboratory rendered in highly saturated colors, these images make the workspace of academics seems like children’s play areas. Look a little closer, however, and you’ll discover how deceptively adult the lab actually is with lit cigarettes, broken beakers and shattered test tubes littered carelessly about as though the place was vandalized. This combination of child-friendly visuals and completely bizarre concepts is something that’s recurrent in Forrow’s work.
