Marina Mellado created a weather-interpreting adjustable light, which is very similar to a moon ring. This light is called Luz and was unveiled during this year's Milan Design Week among the Lexus Design Award finalists. This specific award asked designers to create projects reflecting or interpreting the five senses.
Mellado's adjustable light is a spherical lamp that changes color based on the weather, but it can also be manually adjusted using an app.
The idea for Luz began during Mellado's time spent in Poland for her undergrad. She wanted to counteract the negative changes happening within her body as the weather got colder and the days grew short. She wanted something that would reflect how she wanted to feel, thus, her architectural solution was born. When it's cool or dark the adjustable light will shine orange. On the other hand, if it's bright and sunny, the lamp will shine blue.
Her creation works with multiple forecasts and weather scenarios making it a globally interchangeable product.
