Hypnotic Florescent Art

The '64 CCFL' Installation by Nils Völker Shines with Mesmerizing Lig

Kaleidoscopic visuals are displayed by the stunning beauty of the '64 CCFL' installation by Nils Volker.

The Berlin-based artist is a communication designer and a graduate of the Bauhaus University in Weimar. He is famed for his 2010 installation for which he built a device that created paintings from the sound of cars.

Völker's passion for art translates into his latest venture that is a stunning sight of hypnotic visuals. Interestingly, these lighting fixtures are normally used for backlights and computer screens. The internal light drawn from these fixtures is controlled by a power supply that dictates the height of illumination in each tube.

The installation appears to explode from the ground against a black background, and makes for an entertaining show of technology and art.
