Fashion-Forward 3D-Printing Techniques

Lingxiao Luo's 3D-Printed Knitwear is Colorful & Whimsical

Lingxiao Luo — a graduate of the Royal College of Art, utilizes a 3D-printing technique to innovate the fashion industry with regard to aesthetic and production methods. Her collection is dubbed 'AddiToy' and its strong chromatic presence, alongside the abstract silhouettes, is meant to evoke a sense of wonder and playfulness as experienced in childhood.

For the silhouettes, Lingxiao Luo channels her experience as a childrenswear designer. For the production of the pieces, the artist uses a special 3D-printing technique that is able to produce a fresh aesthetic and zero-waste fabrication.

The colorfully whimsical garments in the AddiToy collection are made by "3D-printing plastic threads directly onto knitwear." As a result, the pieces have a different texture, look and structure.
