London-based designers Bartek Arendt and Kasia Bedra designed the '34.25° House,' an abstract-looking home located along the Radunia river in northern Poland.
The location was particularly challenging because it came with a laundry list of regulations; for instance, the home had to be constructed at least 100 meters from the water, and also had to feature a pitched roof in the style of barn buildings in the area.
The house earned its title after the architects tilted it 34.25 degrees north-west in order to manage the restrictions of the site. The architects explain, "It allowed us to make better use of morning light in the bedrooms, which are on the south and east side of the house, and afternoon light in the living spaces and the terrace on the north-west side. It also provided more privacy, in case any new homes are built next door. In such case, the views and the secluded terrace would remain unaffected."
