Grand Central Station is getting into the Christmas spirit early this year. Sharp has unveiled a 26-foot-tall Christmas tree made of 43 Aquos LCD TVs varying in size from 19" to 52". The really cool thing about the display is that the TVs are all wired together, showing a coordinated video of snowflakes and waterfalls. Passersby can also sign up to win one of the televisions.
Implications - There exist many novelty items within society that have come to be associated with a number of occasions and situations. While it is often futile for companies and businesses to try to replace these items, there is always room for improvement, enhancement or unique alterations. Consumers will be more drawn to products that are able to distinguish themselves amongst the others. Companies will benefit by infusing old ideas with new concepts.
