Civilist Produces a Summer-ready, Casual Streetwear Collection

— May 27, 2019 — Fashion
The Civilist drop for the Summer 2019 season features an array of 80s t-shirts. The designs prove to be quite unique and playful, hinting to the past with strong vintage sensibilities.

To curate an engaging product that is of interest, the Berlin-based skate brand looked toward trippy visuals and dyes. While the illustrations on the 80s t-shirts depict accounts on the fourth dimension, Civilist also individually dyed its SOUND Crewneck so that each piece features a one-of-a-kind manifestation of color. This adds a dynamically engaging element to the designs.

Both approaches — that of the incorporation of the trippy visuals, as well as the fluid dying process, tie seamlessly into the aesthetic of skate culture in the urban environment. In addition to the 80s t-shirts, Civilist also offers a range of socks and caps as part of its Summer 2019 capsule.
Trend Themes
1. Vintage Aesthetic Fashion - There is opportunity for designers to produce high-quality apparel featuring unique, vintage motifs similar to Civilist's dyed 80s t-shirts.
2. Customized Clothing - There is potential for clothing brands to create customized pieces, like Civilist's dyed SOUND Crewneck, that each feature a one-of-a-kind manifestation of color, allowing consumers to have a unique experience with every purchase.
3. Trippy Visuals - The use of trippy visuals in design has the potential to become popular among consumers who enjoy bold, unique designs like the ones featured on Civilist's 80s t-shirts.
Industry Implications
1. Fashion - Fashion brands can explore incorporating unique, vintage motifs and trippy visuals into their designs to appeal to consumers who are looking for distinct fashion items.
2. Apparel - Apparel companies can take inspiration from Civilist's fluid dying process for their own designs, creating customized items that offer consumers a unique experience.
3. Streetwear - Streetwear brands should experiment with incorporating trippy visuals into their designs to appeal to consumers who are looking for bold, unique designs like the ones featured on Civilist's 80s t-shirts.
