Akb Architects Designed the Whistling Wind Islands in Ontario
Amy Duong — July 29, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture studio Akb Architects created the Whistling Wind Island which is a summer holiday home for a kite surfer. The home is formed of a range of silvered cedar buildings that are nestled on an archipelago in Ontario, Canada. The island is surrounded by the landscapes of Pointe Au Baril, which can be reached three hours north of Toronto, where there are rocky islands and more.
The design firm speaks about the project, stating it is "Surrounded by open waters and expansive sky, [the island] is continually exposed to changing water levels and mercurial weather patterns where morning sunshine can change to unexpected hail storms by the afternoon.T he robust wind conditions make Pointe Au Baril the ideal location for the owner to enjoy his passion for kite surfing."
