This weather notifications app was designed at the Disrupt Hackathon, enabling users to track friends and family who may be in hazardous weather areas. With globalization, people are spread far and wide across the world, making it hard to stay in contact with each other. Many technologies exist to enhance this communication, however, some can fail in poor weather conditions or are simply time-consuming to filter through and reach out to each individual city separately.
'PocketWatch' is a free app that makes it easy to set tabs on various locations throughout the world that users have friends or family in who they don't talk to every day. These tabs constantly track the weather in those locations and sends the user weather notifications through messages when there are signs of disasters -- such as a hurricane, earthquake or blizzard.
Great for concerned parents and close friends, this app puts people's minds at ease who have loved ones travelling in potentially dangerous areas.
