If you have the right tools and the ability to follow directions, you could have your own washing machine fire pit in just an hour. Sarah and Jo of House & Fig have provided instructions for how they prepared a backyard fireplace using a reclaimed part of a large domestic appliance.
After acquiring an old washing machine drum from a broken contraption for only $10, Joe set about separating the plastic components and smoothing out any edging that looked untidy. The perforated metal container had to be thoroughly cleaned as well, and this one was given four welded feet to elevate it from the deck or the lawn. To finish off this DIY washing machine fire pit, the duo painted it a matte black, all in about 60 minutes.
