The W Amsterdam is a stunning new addition to the brand's chain of international luxury hotels that is situated on Centrum. One of the most jarring and sensational features is that due to the peculiar layout of the structure, which sits behind the Royal Palace, the five-star hotel actually has its lobby on rooftop.
Located in a former telephone exchange on top of a supermarket, the recently opened W Amsterdam also comprises an adjacent canalside building previously occupied by a bank, which will open up 66 additional rooms in early 2016. The rooftop W Lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows and a swimming pool, which is actually the first rooftop pool in downtown Amsterdam. The sixth floor of the W Amsterdam also features a Mr Porter, a steakhouse concept.
