The Vuurs Stove Uses The Heat it Generates to Power Modern Technology
Justin Lam — March 16, 2018 — Tech
The Tjep designed Vuurs stove is a contemporary stove that comes from a range of environmentally wood burners. Commissioned by Vuurs, a Dutch start-up founded by Bram Opdam, and designed by Tjep, the unique wood burner is a minimalist expression of a rustic home appliance that also happens to be environmentally friendly. When designing the Vuurs stove Tjep looked at the shape of traditional stoves and then stripped it down to nothing but its bare elements. Instead of using traditional dark palettes the minimalist stove utilize a light color palette, combining shades of soft grey and off-white.
While the stove is visually striking the true appeal of the stove lies in its innovation. The stove is equipped with Internet of Things technology allow it to track heating data and even charge mobile devices by converting the thermal energy into electricity. The heat generated from the Vuurs stove can also establish a Wi-Fi connection for the stove to communicate with the Vuurs server and allows for the company to draw analytics from the stove.
