This Vietnamese townhouse is situated in the urban area of Hanoi. Since the building site is high in maintenance due to vulnerability to flooding during rain season, ARO Studio has elevated the first floor of the structure. Moreover, the architects seek to address the privation of green spaces in Vietnamese townhouses through incorporating vegetation and trees on the facades and in mini indoor gardens within the design and floor plan.
The home is meant "for a typical [...] family of three generations." Taking into consideration the living manners and needs of each age group, ARO Studio incorporates design elements that reference and are accommodating to first generation agricultural farmers, second generation working class and third generation recreational nature lovers.
