Jonathan Lane-Smith's Vessel Table is a unique coffee table design that looks like miniature ant-sized people are standing on its surface.
The spun aluminum coffee table has a glass top. The base has two sheets that work together as a container to display objects. The Vessel Table also has painted figures on it that resemble people walking around. Photographed by James Champion, the table also looks like a wide and shallow vase or decorative ice rink in addition to a display table.
Based out of London, freelance designer Jonathan Lane-Smith focuses on simple geometry and mixing materials in his furniture. He also designs lighting and homeware. Since 2013 he has worked out of his own studio.
