Function and minimalism often go hand-in-hand as designers seek to create elegant pieces that are useful and serve a purpose—the Utility Shelf is a great example of how this intersection of interests articulates itself. Designed by Rachael Heritage, who is the founder of Thackeray West Studio, for the contemporary brand WOUD, the Utility Shelf offers a certain degree of freedom. The piece acts as open shelving for displaying objects but it doesn't need to be attached to the wall the way most open shelves need to. Hence, the furniture allows for some flexibility. Naturally, the Utility Shelf may also be used as a space for storage of books, magazines, and other things. The piece is offered in natural oak or dusty green oak (painted) colorways.
