A designer, going by the online alias BTE-Dan, has designed a full-on business proposal for creating a functional USS Enterprise replica.
Made popular by its appearance in the Star Trek series, the intergalactic vessel will only take 20 years to complete and $1 trillion US dollars, according the the engineer's estimations.
His detailed proposal is laid out on his Build The Enterprise website, where he lists the components needed and funding options. His vessel would be capable of achieving gravity of 1g (the same as on Earth) and could easily house thousands of people.
BTE-Dan proposes that the craft would be built entirely in space and while it can not achieve faster-than-light speeds, he does claim it would be able to "boldly go where no man has gone before."
