The new Urbanarbolismo Palacio de Congresos Europa manages to make up for its large metropolitan footprint by featuring exterior walls that are completely covered in greenery. The Palace of Congresses Europe in Vitoria-Gasteiz was rejuvenated with the goal of embodying this sense of biodiversity for which the Spanish city is known.
Unusualgreen and Urbanarbolismo worked together to plant 1,492 square meters of vegetation over the edifice, of which the majority is a hydroponic vertical garden. Native grasses, herbs and flowers were chosen to cloak the structure, and these were arranged in a systematic and geographic way. This eco-friendly cladding increases the insulation of the building by 270%, contributing to massive energy savings and much more environmentally conscious management in the maintenance of the indoor atmosphere.
