In the heart of Sarajevo is a decrepit hotel called Hotel Europa which is now the backdrop of urban art projection. Specifically, images from the Doom Video Game are being projected on the crumbling old hotel that was damaged during the war.
Implications - The outdoor installation was created by Damiano Colacito and opened Sarajevo's XXIII International Festival. The projection shows the story of the primary protagonist from Doom, Taggart Flynn. There is a big image of his face that goes through many different facial expressions. His face starts off happy and by the end of the show it is absolutely tormented. The idea of the installation was to metaphorically represent the tale of the city that was once ravaged by war.
