The traditional door lock is being replace by the aptly named, and inventive, UniKey system. This high-tech door lock turns your smartphone, or any Bluetooth-enabled device, into a door key. The door is a standard deadbolt that becomes disarmed when it detects the UniKey app in close proximity. Once the signal is detected, a user needs only to touch the lock to unlock it. The door can also be locked through the app.
Unlocking a door with the touch of a finger is awesome, but what makes the UniKey system even better is that digital copies of a key can be sent via text message. These keys can be put on a timer, and copies of the key can be revoked at any time. UniKey includes a physcial copy of the key with the system, just in case your phone becomes lost or damaged.
