Tile is reportedly going to launch a new product that will have the ability to track items using ultra-wideband technology in place of Bluetooth, which Tile previously implemented.
Ultra-wideband technology enables short-range wireless communication and it operates at a high frequency. The technology is able to determine where another device is located, making it ideal for Tile products. Relying on ultra-wideband will also provide an added ability of spatial awareness, which can make it easier to find a device.
Ultra-wideband technology is currently available on a number of smartphones currently on the market, including iPhone 11 and later models, and also certain Android devices. Tile is also creating AR features for the Tile App, that will enable users to view an AR camera to help them locate lost items.
