Lotus, a global luxury performance brand known for its thrilling sports cars, has launched a new model that combines its heritage of cycling excellence with cutting-edge technology. The Type 136 is an electrified road bike that features the lightest e-bike motor from HPS, delivering true dual-use functionality to ride further, faster, and higher. The bike’s frame is handmade in Italy from carbon fiber and has a striking aero design inspired by Lotus’ gold medal-winning track bikes at the Olympic Games. The bike also has a battery that is disguised as a water bottle and can be detached from the frame easily.
The Type 136 is available in two versions: a standard and a first edition model. The standard model comes in either yellow or black and has two options for the groupset: SRAM RED or SRAM FORCE. The standard model also has DT SWISS wheelsets and a 193 Wh battery. The first edition model is limited to 136 bikes, each individually numbered and painted in Lotus’ signature gold and black colors. The first edition model has a full Campagnolo Super Record Wireless Groupset and Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 60 Wheelset and a unique Lotus motorsport-inspired livery. The first edition model also has the same 193 Wh battery as the standard model.
The motor in the Type 136 can deliver up to 250 Watts of power and can last up to 10 hours. The Type 136 first edition model is priced at £20,000 and is available now, while the standard model is priced at £15,199 for the SRAM FORCE option and £16,999 for the SRAM RED option and will go on sale in Spring 2024.
