The Tsingpu Retreat Hotel Was Made in a Neglected Warehouse
Madison Mackay — April 24, 2018 — Art & Design
Yangzhou-based Neri & Hu Design and Research office created the Tsingpu Retreat hotel -- a contemporary take on traditional Chinese design.
The hotel offers 20 guestrooms inside the original footprint of a neglected warehouse that was re-built and redesigned into a luxurious and unique space. Set beside the Slender West Lake, the hotel offers vast views of the water and greenery with grey-bricked pavilions, decorative pools, courtyards and traditional hutong houses. Each room offers a calming oasis-like aesthetic, with terrazzo, walnut, steel and white oak interiors, handmade furniture and unconventional lighting fixtures.
The small details of art, tea houses and landscaping, make the Tsingpu Retreat Hotel stand out from all other travel options in the area.
