2012 Architehten in cooperation with Jeanne van Heeswijks, created a multi-purpose construction made entirely out of recycled stainless steel sinks. Reclaimed kitchen sinks are held together with a wire and temporary frame to support material. The building, called the Sustainable Sky-box, has an open top, and exposed walls on the inside. It’s not only a place for people to gather, but serves also as an eco-friendly rain water collector which can be used for watering nearby gardens.
It’s an unusual sculpture that blends with urban life and the traditional architecture of Utrecht, Vlaardingen and Amsterdam.
This is an amazing example of an art project that fuses people, space, nature and creativity.
