Toyota is taking on Uber, and other competitors, by showcasing its TransLog system. This new smart taxi service is currently being developed in partnership with JapanTaxi, KDDI and Accenture. All the companies involved in this venture are hoping to collect valuable data for future self-driving efforts and hope to relive congestion and traffic in urban Japanese areas. In its current state, the system combines historical data, weather reports, local event schedules and public transport availability before using AI to predict the demand for hired transport.
The TransLog system works in conjunction with JapanTaxi's fleet and connects to it with an AI system focused on dispatching vehicles. This service will allow the taxis to more accurately service high-traffic areas and will maximize overall efficiency.
