The London architectural firm 'Project Orange' designed a unique home that features a traditional exterior and a surprisingly modern interior. When it comes to new houses, many consumers wants their home to look modern both inside and out. This family home manages to blend into the existing neighborhood without sacrificing modern design.
From the outside 'West Stow Lodge' looks like any other English home. The house features a traditional exterior, complete with a pitched-roof and brick chimney. However, the home also features subtle details that allude to its modern design. The interior of the home boasts contemporary finishes such as white-painted bricks, oak joints and polished concrete flooring. The end result is a home that mirrors the local architectural style from the outside, but boasts sleek contemporary decor on the inside. As architect Christopher Ash explains, "We wanted to explore a traditional form, while making a house that was quietly of its time."
The project demonstrates how designers can craft modern homes that fit into traditional neighborhoods.
