A team of scientists and researchers over at the University of Washington have developed an innovative thermometer app that is designed to make it possible for smartphones to be converted into thermometers that are exceptionally easy to use whilst also being reliably accurate.
The 'FeverPhone' app uses smartphone touchscreens to monitor contact with the skin along with the thermistors used to monitor phone batteries to be able to achieve heat transfer and monitor temperature.
Considering that old-school mercury-based thermometers are becoming a rare species whilst digital thermometers continue to be prohibitively expensive for many people, the advent of the 'FeverPhone' thermometer app could represent an excellent way for more people to be able to call upon thermometers.
