'The Witcher' Receives a Full Remake Built in Unreal Engine 5

According to CD Projekt Red, the first game in ‘The Witcher’ series will be completely rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5 as the team’s newest project. Dubbed ‘Canis Majoris,’ the project will be headed by CD Projekt Red and will be developed by an external studio called Fool’s Theory. CD Projekt Red currently has multiple other projects in the early development stages, including two games set in ‘The Witcher’ universe and a new Cyberpunk game.
“Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of the people there have been previously involved in The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how much gamers have been looking forward to seeing the remake happen, and they know how to make incredible and ambitious games. [...]," said Adam Badowsk, studio head of CD Projekt Red.
