Tropical Space Designed the Terra Cotta Workshop
Amy Duong — July 12, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture studio Tropical Space created the Terra Cotta workshop which is located along a river in Vietnam's Dien Phuong. The workshop is defined by its perforated brick walls and the space is comprised of a brick film and visitor center made to complement Terra Cotta Studio. This expansion added a range of new structures to the rural site. The aforementioned brick walls are perforated for shade and allow for fresh air to circulate seamlessly.
Tropical Space explains, "The building becomes an 'organic' part of the workshop's daily activities and the surrounding environment. The experiential area for visitors is at the outer side, along the long brick wall. This space connects to the Terra Cotta Studio by an outdoor walkway. This is where people can try to 'touch the clay', create their own souvenir, and listen to stories told by the craftsmen."
