Atelier Nyp is a beautiful new cabin design by the team at Studio Bua. It is built on a historic site of what was once a ruined sheep shed nestled in western Iceland. The name of the space is dubbed after the Nypurhyrna mountain that rises up from behind the cabin. Atelier Nyp is created as an artist's studio and a guest house.
The co-founder of Studio Bua Sigrún Sumarliðadóttir speaks on the design “We approached the project from the point of view of sustainability and to maximise the existing resources, both material and cultural. We repurposed the concrete foundation from an existing sheep shed that had blown off in extremely bad weather, which in this part of the world is not uncommon."
