Montreal-based Stradigi AI is committed to using the capabilities of artificial intelligence as a new and advanced tool for the deaf and hearing impaired. To do this, the start-up recently unveiled a new game that takes advantage of computer vision to help people learn Americal Sign Language (ASL). Known officially as the ASL Alphabet Game, this unique title was produced in partnership with the Deaf Anglo Literacy Center (DALC), a Montreal-based organization that offers basic literacy and communication skills to the deaf.
The gameplay resembles Simon Says, with players earning points for imitating the 26 letters of the alphabet in ASL. The computer vision, developed by Stradigi AI, then analyzes the hand signs against a collection of more than 100,000 images in near real-time.
