This app allows you to take pictures of empty shelves and their product tags and get store rewards in return. Shelfie is a mobile app that not only offers customer rewards, but also helps retailers receive data that will help them from being out of stock in the future. From marketing analysts Datacrowd, the free app is available from the Apple Store and Google Play in the United States.

As a customer, if you come across an empty shelf at a supermarket you can download the app and snap a shelfie including the price tag. Send the picture to Datacrowd with the GPS location and you will receive store rewards at either that specific location or for a participating brand. Datacrowd then passes on the information to the stockless store.
