The architects of this Slovenian house came up with an ingenious way to maintain an open concept through modular storage walls. The homeowners wanted to have a space that had an open-concept living room, dining room and kitchen, but had to work within a long and narrow layout.
To achieve this, architects designed the main living space to be entirely open, much like the homeowners had wanted. The real highlight of the space however is the inclusion of a storage wall. Essentially, the longest wall of the house doubles as storage with multiple cabinets that keep belongings tidy, but also increase the living space. The center of the wall is a narrow hallway to the front door that disrupts the flow of the house. To address this, architects were able to make a section of the wall foldable and modular, to cover up the opening.
