Jonas Herman Pedersen designs the Stilk side table, which has a design that seemingly hovers and is held by a single pillar that is supported by the middle to create a center of gravity. This way, it will not topple onto one side or the other and overall pushes boundaries. It is entirely constructed from wood and it rests on a thin monolith that stands off to one side.
The top of the table surface is not a flat circle but it does have an edge connected to it to allow the stem to be able to fold upwards. It also makes the top seem like it is hovering, as mentioned prior -- the height can also be adjusted by removing a small wooden rod.
