The Spotify voice assistant may soon be a reality as the streaming service has begun early testing on its new navigational tool. The feature, first spotted by Twitter user Hunter Owens, is currently available to some users through the iOS app and can be found inside the search bar. The voice assistant gives users the ability control almost every aspect of the Spotify app through voice controls and can easily find music without the use of a keyboard.
While Spotify is currently compatible with voice search, through integrations with voice assistants such as Google assistant and Alex, the introduction of a Spotify voice assistant would allow the company to further branch into hardware. It would make sense for the company to branch out with hardware ambitions, especially since the recent filing to go public via direct listing.
