Conceived as a tribute to the significant Space Shuttle Challenger launch 16-years-ago, the 1,213-piece kit comes equipped with three mini-figures (one male, one female, and one crew member), a launchpad, a separate detachable fuel tank and booster rockets, making it one of the most thorough and complete LEGO space shuttle sets ever released.
Like most kids, when I was younger I was obsessed with the concept of astronauts and space. Any product that brought my imagination closer to the wild life of intergalatic aviation was considered a must-have in my eyes. I'm more than a little choked that the Space Shuttle and Launchpad LEGO Kit wasn't around when I was ready to explore toy spaceships. Alas, the kids today get all the good stuff.
