Troy, Michigan-based business Sourdough Ida was born after the owners, the Marenas, witnessed their teenage daughter struggle with her digestive issues, leading Mirsida Marena to develop a gut-friendly sourdough starter and recipe for baked loaves. More than just a bakery, Sourdough Ida offers an enticing selection of artisanal sourdough loaves, golden-brown scones, and melt-in-your-mouth cookies. Specialty items like crisp sourdough crackers, flavorful breadcrumbs, and handcrafted sourdough pizza are also available for consumers not interested in the standard bread offerings.
“The community is supporting us so much, it’s lifting us up,” Mirsida said. “You can have a great product, but if you don’t have the support, it doesn’t work.”
