The Sol Laptop is Powered by the Sun and Designed for Rural Areas

It's probably best to be cautiously optimistic about the Sol Laptop. After all, it's promising a lot. The laptop's makers, WeWi Telecommunications, claim that it will be able to run for ten hours on only two hours of solar charging. That's right, this laptop is entirely solar powered.
The Sol Laptop was designed to be used in rural areas where electricity is at a premium (it'll first be available in Ghana). It will run Ubuntu and feature an HD display, touchpad and WiFi connectivity. Since it's meant to be used in remote areas, the laptop has been designed to take bumps and bruises. Its makers have describe it as a "sports-utility laptop." Mum's the word when it comes to the Sol Laptop, but it will reportedly sell for $300.
