As part of its continuous exploration into the Internet of Things, multinational networking company Cisco has partnered with AGT International to develop smart traffic systems for cities around the world.
The traffic system would be IoT-enabled, featuring pavement sensors, licence plate readers, video cameras and an active social media feed. Along with offering real-time response to traffic accidents, the system will also collect and analyze traffic accident data, offering a comprehensive report.
Cities are gradually implementing the Internet of Things into their infrastructure, creating smarter and more efficient systems. As Cisco's Wim Elfrink says, "...Cities are the epicenter of the Internet of Everything, where people, things, data and processes can be connected to deliver new and amazing value."
