The 'Smart For-Us' Concept Pickup Combines Style and Sustainability
Rebecca Byers — January 12, 2012 — Autos
The 'Smart For-Us' concept pickup, presented by Smart at NAIAS 2012, is a vision for a larger and more functional Smart car.
The new model would feature a 75 HP electric motor, a 17.6 kw/h lithium battery pack, and will be capable of going zero to 60 mph in five seconds.
The two-passenger Smart For-Us concept pickup will also feature a loading bay behind the seats that facilitates storage in the pickup bed. The pickup bed is also equipped with two slits for the front wheels of eco-bikes and a docking station to charge the bikes.
In addition to 11.6 cubic feet of space, the car has the look of a sport utility vehicle. While that's still considerably smaller than an average pickup truck, the Smart For-Us pickup is a compromise between environment-friendly and functional.
