Hidden away on the gorgeous Malolo Island is the Six Senses Fiji, which bears the distinction of being run entirely on solar-powered Tesla Powerwall batteries. The hotel features 24 one and two-bedroom pool villas and 10 private residences, all of which are 100% solar-powered. The entire system is powered by the largest microgrid in Fiji using Tesla batteries.
Six Senses Fiji furthers its conservational efforts by using low power fuel filtration in resort and resident pools, as well as low impact refrigerant and air-conditioning units. Sensors throughout the villas automatically shut off air-conditioning once doors are opened. Waste management is also more eco-friendly as the resort employs a septic system that uses tiger-worms to turn waste into fertilizers.
The hotel also uses best practices by employing local Fijians to grow herbs and vegetables in a special kitchen garden. The Six Senses Fiji also stocks its boutiques with handcrafted items made by Fijian women living in remote communities.
