The ‘Sisifo’ for Artemide by the Chicago-based design studio Minimal is economical, efficient and, most importantly, luminous. As explained on the company’s Behance page, entrepreneur and designer Scott Wilson founded Minimal to create "disruptive, brand-building products and experiences that connect emotionally with viewers."
Unlike most lighting products, the lamp uses LEDs. LEDs have, until recently, not been powerful enough to serve as primary lighting fixtures. However, recent technological advancements have allowed this type of lighting to function just as well as their incandescent and florescent counterparts.
A benefit to LEDs is that they are much more energy efficient than traditional lighting; this is good for budgets as well as the environment. Beyond practical concerns, Minimal’s design achieves a sleek and contemporary aesthetic.
